Nowadays pretty much everyone owns a smartphone. But having such a phone can be really frustrating sometimes. To avoid these situations, here is a tutorial of how to make a smartphone bumper out of rubber bracelets. You will need:

a phone (obviously);
3 rubber bracelets;
an x-acto knife;

As you can see you will need three bracelets for this project. If you have enough patience, one will be enough, but just in case you don't get it right on the first try you will still have 2 extra bracelets to try again. Start with stretching the rubber bracelet on the edges of your phone. Be sure to cover every corner, as that is the place where you need your phone to be secured. If you managed to fit the bracelet on the phone, all you have to do is take the x-acto knife and cut out the parts where you have the headphone jack, the place for the charger and the buttons on the sides of the phone. You are done! Your new smartphone bumper is ready, looks great and didn't cost you a lot of money.

A colorful and multi-flavored dish is something all of those working in the kitchen want to achieve. Satisfying everyone’s taste is hard work, so a recipe that will suit many is the Lasagna Timpano. In order to make this, you will need:

a heavy oven safe bowl;

Brush some Alfredo on top. Seal up the whole thing and put in the oven for an hour and fifteen at 350 degrees. Then, flip it over, only (!) after you have let it to sit for about half an hour. Hasselback Garlic Cheesy Bread Recipe

Mixing some popular dishes can result into a disaster. But, some rare times, experimenting with some dishes and combining them into a marvelous piece of cookery, you will be both loved (by the lucky guest on your table) and hated (by the home chefs who didn't manage to come up with these delights by themselves). Take a risk and try to make this garlic cheesy bread.

You will need:
warm water;
honey;
dry yeast;
bread flour;
salt;
olive oil;
plastic wrap;
whatever type of cheese you prefer;
half of cup of garlic butter;
You start by making the dough of this soon-to-be delicious bread. Take one envelope of dry yeast and mix it in a bowl with a tablespoon of honey and a cup of warm water. Add three cups of bread flour and a teaspoon of salt, and continue the mixing process until your dough does no longer stick to the bowl. Pour a little bit of the olive oil on the edges of the bowl where your mixture is. Leave it to rise for an hour in a towel covered bowl. After this, remove the dough from the bowl. Cut into two same-size parts and shape into a pair of baguettes. Don't be afraid to twist the dough as it will look interesting after you're done; it's useful for the other ingredients as well.
Now, while you leave the dough covered with a plastic wrap in a warm place, preheat your oven to 400" Fahrenheit. When half an hour has passed, take off the wrap and put in the oven for 20 minutes or so at 350". Meanwhile, slice the cheese into slices (they should be very thin!) and slowly melt half a cup of garlic butter. With the help of a kitchen brush, cover the entire bread (remove from oven to work with it better) with butter. Put to bake for another 10 minutes or until the bread reaches a tasty golden brown aspect. Let it cool for 15 minutes and then make slices with a knife through the bread. Make sure you don't cut all the way to the bottom. Use these spaces to put in the cheese and some more garlic butter. Place in the oven a bit for the cheese to melt. They're ready to serve. Delicious!

How To Clean and Season Old, Rusty Cast Iron Skillets

Most of the times you’re dealing with rust on your antique cast iron skillets, the natural instinct is to take them to a specialist that will handle your problem. But there goes away some good money. You don’t want to do that, especially if there’s a homemade natural solution at your disposal. Here is what you’ll need:

  • some raw potatoes;
  • salt (kosher type will work great);
  • towel;
  • a bit of Crisco (the un-buttered flavor);
First, put a couple of teaspoons of salt at the bottom of your sink and place the cast iron skillet in it. Then, grab a top-sliced potato and use its cut end to scour the skillet. Meanwhile grind the salt in those rust covered spots and rinse off the skillet as well. If it’s necessary, add more salt to the process. After the rust is all gone, take a towel to dry the iron skillet. If you have achieved the desired result, take some Crisco and rub into the surface of the object, making it ready for cooking once more.

Now, it’s important that you don’t wash the skillet with soap, because it will wear off the coating of oil. When you’re done with cooking with the iron skillet, make sure you rinse it. Don’t put it in the dishwasher, and don’t let it soak for a long time, as you would with your ordinary pan. If it need scrubbing, leave it to cool down and put some salt on it.

DIY Felt Heart

glue (you can also use tape);

Start with cutting the felt in heart shapes. Place the baker's twine in the needle and pull it through the middle part of the heart. Continue this step until you have the number of hearts you want on the thread. Pay attention to leave a small space between the hearts, as they will look more organized this way. Now with the help of glue, fix one end of the baker's twine to the mason jar. Then wrap the twine around the jar and glue the loose end at the top. That is all. You can now admire your creation and don't forget to share this great idea with your friends too.

Destroy Mold With Tea Tree Oil

Sometimes, cleaning products you buy from the store aren’t useful in solving your staining problems. That’s when they don’t cost a fortune and when they don’t ruin the fabric. Mold is one problem that can regularly come up in the household. To bypass the fuss of all the above, you will need to use a natural tree oil solution. If you want to remove the mold permanently you will use this, because bleaches will only affect it temporarily. The tea tree oil is a good solution because it has boosted anti-bacterial as well as anti- fungal properties. Here is what you need to have and do:

tea tree oil;
toothbrush and scrub brush;
sponge, cloth and towel;

Make sure you leave the window open as often as possible. This is essential for preventing mold to grow in the first place. Now, to start the naturally removing process you need to mix two teaspoons of oil with a couple of cups of water. Pour the resulting substance into a spray bottle and you’re ready to clean.

Apply the solution directly on the mold you find on walls. Leave it for an hour. Then, remove the debris with the help of a scrub brush or an unused toothbrush, so you can reach finer areas. Continue to spray on the affected areas, like your bathroom. Don’t rinse the tree oil off! Be patient and let it work for a while. Some 30 to 60 minutes will do the trick. Use the brush again to wipe down the walls of the affected space, like the shower.  Remember that for the bathroom you have to spray the area on a regular basis.

Continue with mixing the tomatoes with the bacon, the shredded swiss and the mayo. When they are combined place them in cups, dividing it equally. Take out a baking sheet and place your cups on it, then bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Out of these ingredients you will be able to make around 45 cups. DIY Handbag Jeans

To re-purpose means transforming an ordinary object into something different it was intended in the first place. This technique has become very popular within the DIY world, and is used often as a replacement for buying new articles and recycling old items. In this project, you will learn, through the pictures and steps provided, how to make a handbag from a pair of unused jeans. You will need:

  • blue (or any other color of) jeans;
  • a sewing machine;
  • zippers;
  • straps;
  • some fabric;
  • a pair of scissors;
  • optional: cardstock;

The process isn’t that hard and it involves using even one leg of the jeans, depending on how big you want the bag to be. Start with placing the jeans material (one leg for example) and reinforcing where the bottom of the bag will be. You can do this by sewing a piece of cardstock or just another piece of material. Or you could leave it without a bottom. Then, sow on both interior sides of the bag (pant leg at this point) some material, leaving the top open for adding a zipper. This will be the inside pockets.

Next are the straps (they could be from any material at your disposal) which are also stitched to the leg, but on the `good` side. Last but not least, the entire length of the top of the zipper is sewed on the material by folding the pant in the way shown in the image. Cut off the excess corners if necessary. Finally, do the lining coupled with the top of the bag. You’re bag is done. If you’re familiar with sowing techniques, it should be easy.

CHICKEN & DUMPLIN CASSEROLE

The famous dumplings you see featured in movies shouldn’t be found just in restaurants. Grab some courage and make this for your family and friends, right at home.

INGREDIENTS:
  • two chicken breasts (you can also buy them from rotisserie);
  • two cups of chicken broth;
  • half butter;
  • two cups of Bisquick;
  • two cups of milk;
  • one can of cream chicken soup (the ideal would be to use the Herbed one);
  • three teaspoons of granules with chicken flavor;
  • half teaspoon of dried sage;
  • one teaspoon of black pepper;
  • half teaspoon of salt (if it’s not salty enough, you can use more);
 Start with preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Then you will start making the layers placed in the casserole. Take a 9 x 13 casserole fit for oven and make the first layer by melting the half butter and then sprinkle shredded chicken over it. Add some black pepper and the dried sausages and leave this layer unstirred.
 Now you can focus on the next layer. For this you will need a smaller dish in which you’ll mix the milk with the Bisquick. When you are done, pour the mix onto the chicken and move on to the next layer.
 For this last layer you will have to use a medium sized bowl. Put the chicken broth in it, together with the granules and the chicken soup and mix them together. At the end add a layer of Bisquick. Leave it unstirred and place the casserole into the oven for 35 minutes. If you are not sure when it is done, take the casserole out when the top becomes golden.

Apple Cinnamon Loaf

A sweet desert could contain fruit, not just chocolate or some other kind of candy. Sugar is included, of course. But the taste buds will be delighted. Here is what you need to do:

  • brown sugar (not packed);
  • ground cinnamon;
  • white sugar;
  • butter;
  • a couple of eggs;
  • one and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract;
  • one and a half cup of all-purpose flour;
  • 1 and 3/4 teaspoons of baking powder;
  • half-cup of milk;
  • an apple;
 First of all, peel and chop your apple and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Put some grease and flour on a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Mix 1/3 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside. Beat a half cup of softened butter with 2/3 cup of white sugar in a bowl. Use an electric mixer for this, until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. Beat the eggs, one at a time, until they mix and then add the vanilla extract.
Stir baking powder with flour in another bowl; and pour in the creamed butter mixture. Mix half-cup of milk into the batter until it becomes smooth. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, then half the apples and half the brown sugar cinnamon mixture. Pat the apple mixture in a light manner into the batter.
Pour the rest of the batter over the layer of apples. Take the remaining apples and top the batter. Add some extra brown sugar or cinnamon mixture. Pat again apples in the batter and swirl with the help of a spoon some brown sugar mixture through apples. Put to bake for about half an hour. You know it’s finish when an inserted toothpick into it, comes out clean.

Repurposing Unwanted Shirts

The `magic` of sowing is often overlooked as many technological processes are making their way into our everyday life. Once in a while, a little step back to a lifestyle where handmade objects are more valued is worth your time. Especially if you have a young personality nearby you’d like to mold for the society of tomorrow. Try to make this small dress from an unused shirt and learn the art of repurposing objects from around you at the same time. For this, you will need:

an old shirt;
chalk or marker;
a pair of scissors;
thread and needle;
elastic band;
some extra colorful material;

Take an old shirt you don’t use anymore (or borrow one from a friend or family member). Draw onto the shirt the model of the dress. Be sure you take the right measurements so it will fit the future wearer. After the cutting, you just have to sow. Remember to work the sowing on the interior sides of the dress, so the stitches won’t be visible. Do the front collar and the arms with elastic band. The sides should have a regular sow. That’s it! Oh, if you’d like, you can decorate with a lovely little animal shape that you cut from a colorful material. Your cute dress is now done.
